Eva Portillo is Associate Professor in the department of Automatic Control and Systems engineering at the Higher Technical Engineering School in Bilbao (University of the Basque Country). She gained her PhD in Engineering in 2007 and received the Prize for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis awarded by the University of the Basque Country in 2010. Her research interests focus on the application of Intelligent Techniques and Real-time solutions to manufacturing processes such as grinding, drilling, Electrical discharge Machining, as well as Robotics and Bioengineering. She has published more than 20 scientific papers in JCR journals such as Applied Soft Computing, Neurocomputing and Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. In 2016 was a visitor professor at the Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute KEDRI (Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand). Currently, Eva Portillo is vice-director of the Master and Doctoral School of the University of the Basque Country.
